Two hundred acres of southern Alberta prairie — shooting lanes, a 3D archery loop through the coulee, restored wetlands, and a clubhouse that has stood open to hunters, anglers and conservationists for more than sixty seasons.
Three programs open to the public this season. Courses are taught by certified instructors from the club; non-members welcome at a modest surcharge.
The Canadian Firearms Safety Course. Classroom instruction, hands-on training, and the written & practical exams — certified instructors, 20-student cap.
Hunting fundamentals for Alberta. Regulations, ethics, safety, wildlife ID, and field skills — built for new hunters of any age.
Weekly archery sessions for youth and adults on the wooded 3D course. Equipment available for newcomers; supervised by the archery committee.
Four ongoing programs anchor the club: a members-only shooting range, the 3D archery loop through the coulee, the fall pheasant release, and the conservation committee's habitat work. All are member-supported and volunteer-run.
Multiple distances for rifle, pistol and shotgun. Maintained to strict safety standards with regular range officer supervision. Open year-round to members with valid range certification; orientation held the first Saturday of each month.
A wooded walking course with life-size animal targets at varying distances and elevations. Weekly shoots run spring through fall; indoor sessions continue through the winter months in the club hall.
Over 500 ring-necked pheasants stocked on club lands each fall. Members enjoy upland hunting while the program supports wildlife population management across southern Alberta. Funded entirely through membership fees and local sponsors.
Phase 2 of the wetland restoration with Ducks Unlimited is complete — 12 acres of restored wetland on the east side of the property, with reshaped drainage, water control structures, and native planting. Phase 3, upland nesting cover, is planned for next spring.

Founded in 1962 by a handful of hunters and anglers, the Picture Butte Fish & Game Association has grown into a 450-member community devoted to the land we live on. Our 200-acre property sits just north of Lethbridge, between the coulees and the dryland wheat, with a view of the Rockies on a clear morning.
Fifty events a year. PAL courses, first-time hunter programs, weekly 3D archery, the spring derby, the fall pheasant release, the annual awards banquet. All of it volunteer-run. All of it open to members and their families.
Annual memberships run the calendar year — renewals open January 1. Dues support habitat work, pheasant releases, youth programs, and the upkeep of the range and hall. Family memberships include spouse and any children under eighteen.
